Heo Jun was one of the most well known doctor of the Far East between the 16th and 17th century. He was born in the year of 1539 in Korea. In this time, Korea was known as Joseon. He became the first court physician in Joseon at the age of 29 by curing King Seonjo's grave illness. From here, Heo Jun gained full support from the king to study and develop medical works. He even participated in the war against Japan in 1592 and his main role in the war was to care for the soldiers. In year 1608, he was exiled from Joseon after failing to cure King Seonjo. However, Heo Jun was able to be released from the exile in a short time because the next king of Joseon, King Guanghaegun, became ill and no one except for Heo Jun could cure the disease. After the successful treatment of the new king, Heo Jun got back to work and started writing the 25 volume of his book called Dong Eui Bo Gam. He passed away in the year 1615 in the age of 77. He was regarded as a legendary doctor and to some people he was regarded as a magician since he cured so many people from numerous diseases.
