Tales of Shin Huang Ti
And medicine being so magical and mysterious back than, a famous Chinese emperor, Shin Huang Ti was obsessed with finding the mushroom called the herb of deathlessness or also known as chih. Supposedly when this mushroom was eaten one would immediately attain long life and immortality. An official report says that such mushrooms were seen in the beaks of raven like birds roaming around a site of massacres and the bird placed the plant on the face of a dead man. And whereupon the dead corpse are immediately brought back to the life. Therefore, the king sent out 500 children in search of this plant. However, the survey never returned and it is now suspected that they either all perished or settled in a not too distant but a land we now know as Japan. Still obsessed with the plant he decided to find a formula to immortality. His obsession lead to creating an elixir that would lead to immortal life. Officially, he rid of all formulas but historians believed his death was caused by his own obsession. For he drank an elixir that was formulated with high amount of mercury. Because the Chinese believed that Mercury was the source of spirit energy.
